it's the dark of the moon. Time to release what we don't need in our lives.

I release fear of making others angry/unhappy/dissatisfied
I release fear of what happens if I try something new and scary
I release fear of feeling alone, feeling useless
I release fear of risking and failing
I release fear of not-enough, of lack, of scarcity
I release my attachment to four full BOXES of paperwork that are just taking up space in my life
I release my attachment to dozens of books I don't read and I give myself permission to let those go out into the world
I release my attachment to old roles I used to play, old scripts I used to follow, old masks I used to wear
I release my worry of not being good enough to even TRY
I release my worry about my future and welcome in hope
I release my sorrow at all those old paths-not-taken, the old regrets and splinters-of-the-soul.

You are obstacles. You impede my footsteps. You are hurdles to be removed. You do not serve me, I put you in the fire with the other things that are in my way. Ashes to ashes. Feed the soil with the ashes, and grow something new.

new moon in my trad means a time of getting rid of things, clearing spaces for new things to have room to grow or manifest, destroying things to make new things, new beginnings. Tonight I plan to have a small concentrated burn, if the weather stays fine. I will accept one or two-word phrases from each person submitting that I will write on slips of paper and then burn them between now and midnight tonight PST.

Tonight with the dark of the moon, I release... “fear” “worry” “my pain” “grief” “obstacles” are all examples of the sort of thing I want to encourage. Keep it simple kids, and we can all have a go. Write a paragraph and I’ll select one word out of it, which might not be the word you actually want me to get witchy on.

I had plans for doing a ritual for the full moon this month, especially as it coincided with Lammas/Lughnasaad, but the timing didnt work out to do so with a friend, and I did not feel like doing so alone this time.

Instead my friend and i were Makers.
We made a prototype for a costume piece that we both liked.

It was its own kind of celebration, really. And quite appropriate for both a Full Moon and Lammas... We Manifested a dream, took on a challenge, saw it through, together. She is a joy to work with, eager and interested and fine with me being the boss. She's impressed with my relatively basic sewing skills, which is both sweet and gratifying. (I cook like I sew, not fancy but gets the job done.)

Actually Getting Stuff DONE was so gratifying, felt like a harbinger of other good things for the future.

Tonight is the Dark of the Moon.

I intend to do some cleansing and releasing, burning and destruction.

Feel free to leave something (energy, thought, problem, idea) here that needs to be released, let go, destroyed, or to otherwise leave your life.

Comments are screened, unless you want to allow them to be seen.

You can put anything here you need help releasing, and I'll do what I can to help.

The Blue Moon doesn't look any different than the other full moon this month and ... in fact, it isn't any different at all, but some weird things we do with calendars make it "rare" and ... because of that we import some special significance to it ... and why not?

"Leap Day" isn't real, but that doesn't mean I don't feel special on February 29th.

So go look at the moon. Feel special. It's a good thing.

Space Weather News for Dec. 9, 2011 http://spaceweather.com

LUNAR ECLIPSE: Sky watchers on the Pacific side of Earth should be alert for a total lunar eclipse on Saturday, Dec. 10th. The disk of the full Moon will turn a beautiful shade of copper-red as it passes through Earth's shadow between 4:45 am and 8:18 am Pacific Standard Time (12:45 to 16:18 UT). For observers in western parts of the USA and Canada, the event will be magnified by the Moon illusion as the morning Moon sets behind trees, buildings, and other foreground objects along the western horizon. Please check http://spaceweather.com for more information and full coverage of the eclipse as it happens.
