The Blue Moon doesn't look any different than the other full moon this month and ... in fact, it isn't any different at all, but some weird things we do with calendars make it "rare" and ... because of that we import some special significance to it ... and why not?

"Leap Day" isn't real, but that doesn't mean I don't feel special on February 29th.

So go look at the moon. Feel special. It's a good thing.

It's never not, really. Just sometimes we can't see it.

That's a great moon photo.
I've always been a big fan of the moon.
But, which month its phases fall into never was all that important to me.

I ran out to the balcony, only to discover Oakland was covered with thick fog so I couldn't see it. *sigh*

Gorgeous moon :)

Forgive my ignorance but what's the meaning of blue moon and leap day? Don't think that's part of our culture here but not sure until I fully understand what it means...

Blue moon connotes something rare and wonderful. Literally it means "second full moon in a calendar month"... which it is, yesterday and today.

Leap day is February 29, that extra day added to the calendar once every four years. We had one this year, if I recall correctly.

Ah ok I get it. Leap day if obviously something we have too :) but I've never heard anyone mention the blue moon phenomenon.
