went to the computer history museum today with spouse and his um-friend. we went for sushi for lunch after, and to the local "junk&drunk" or "Art & Wine" festival weekend. I came home with a blue and purple tie dyed tshirt (currently wearing) and he picked out for me a tie dyed dress in a similar style that matches a shirt Spouse got himself last year. =) I find it amusing as shit that we might someday choose to go all matchy-matchy. And a soft long sleeved rayon rainbow tunic! So cheerful, and so loose on me.

Spouse got himself two tie-dyed button down shirts for work, too, and when Um-friend Rachael admired one of the dresses (and it's really her style, to be sure) he got that for her as well!

I kinda wanna go back tomorrow and see if I can find the leather tooled belt guy, i love the brown acorns and leaves belt I got from him and would love a black one too. And to look at the art. And to swim through the crowds all by myself.

I'm about to turn fifty years old this year (2019) and I pretty much only just realized that I can wear clothes that FEEL GOOD over those that look any kind of way. My jewelry can be comfortable, fit in ways I like, and be pleasing to my eye rather than any fashion trend. My skirts can flow in ways that feel good, can hug my curves instead of confine/conceal them. My pants are durable, practical, and almost all have POCKETS. My haircut is cute and comfortable and doesn't need much upkeep, just a cut every two months.

I just watched the clips of Evangeline Lilly talking about wearing superhero spandex and how the male actors complained, and then she brought her four inch stiletto heels up above the interview table and says "maybe they never had to get used to the low level all day discomfort that is women's clothing"

And that, my friends, is a POINT. I love wearing flat shoes with grippy soles, and cargo shorts (which aren't made in my size on the women's side of the store but are on the men's side) because Clothes Can Be Comfortable and Practical and Fuck Fashion Norms if that makes me "gender non confirming" then that's what I am.

I'm wearing comfortable clothes and shoes, and I have the privilege that I can walk with such confidence that nobody dares give me shit to my face.

WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES.

Let's create our own new normal.

Made it to the gym kind of late for me tonight... lots of, I guess you'd call it social interaction and/or networking and/or problemsolving happening around the late afternoon when I originally intended to go. Very quiet space in the evening after 7 pm.

only there for a brief visit, about 10 minutes on the ellipticals again, damn! that makes me pant like a dog who's been running on the beach. got my pulse up past 150, that's pretty rare, especially for only 10 minutes.

Light work on upper body on the nautilus-style weight machines, and light yoga work out in the foyer, still I was there almost an hour, and left the place in a much mellower and more centered frame of mind than when I went in. Working out is a good way of helping me manage my stress and mood, I'm glad I have the chance to get myself to such an attractive space. Since it's a beautiful place, it makes it more restful and appealing to actually go and move (and sweat).

Time to wash the workout clothes, methinks, and (le sad) the pretty new bright blue brushed cotton trousers I got on the recent shopping trip with [livejournal.com profile] runeshower. First time wearing them, and I think I got peanut butter all down the leg. Argh.

I'm also dead pleased to be 1/4 of the way through my 100 things posts. I was hoping that engaging in this posting endeavor would be of help in actually building a regular habit of exercise, and it seems to be doing so.
