Had a first date tonight with B, K's husband. I like him and not just because he's cuddly and thinks I am too. He feels safe, and like it will be fun getting to know him...

Then because I felt safe with him, I was able to tell him that if sexy times was something that we wanted to move towards at some point, that I would need time and he remembered that I had said to him that I thought I was someone on the demisexual spectrum. He remembered. And he believed me. And I'm not sure why that was so shocking but it was.

I got cuddles and kisses! And this is maybe the best first date in a couple of years.

Maybe Jeff is right about dating our friends.

Oh! That sounds like a perfect first date. Cuddles and kisses, with no expectations for sex? How totally wonderful. I have always had a strong preference for dating people who were already friends, so Jeff sounds wise to me.

I've realized that I map somewhere towards demisexual. If I get back to dating I want to do my best to honor that.

This is a thing that sucks about Kentucky, where the social networks and language for discussion about dating are significantly behind what is available in the bay area. Maybe it is better if I stick to the queer community. Dunno. Not there yet.
