Gardening ain't for wusses.

I'm discovering all the spots in legs and back where I lack strength, flexibility, endurance.

It'll be a heckuva diagnostic tool in a coupla days.

Also, quite the motivator to sit quietly & work on homework for a little while.

Ow.

yes. Good thing that in my case all I'm doing is digging holes in well-established planters and transferring plants into the planters. Cos I am SO outta shape at the moment that beginning a garden? was never gonna happen.

and I loves me some 'maters, I do... *happy sigh*

yep. it's great work!

I was sore for months while doing the Big Dig. I learned about muscles I didn't know I had, i.e., my obliques. But it's also work you get stronger at over time and the results are worth it!

yay maters! maters are Joy!

There is a reason when health surveys ask about activities (as in, exercise) they often include "gardening". Be nice to yourself for the next day or so...

I shall. I got half the tomatoes, all the peppers, the artichoke, and two out of three lavender plants in the dirt. I also planted/repotted several succulents, but I could do that standing up, so I did. It was easier standing up, of course. =P Bleah.

I'm obsessive gardener and I still overdo it and spend a day here and there hobbling in the spring when it seems like everything needs to be done at once.

I also kind of like my used copy of http://www.amazon.com/Gardeners-Fitness-Weeding-Aches-Pains/dp/0878332030/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271395479&sr=8-1.
