Goodbye LJ

Fuckity hell, I'm going to miss livejournal. So many good memories, conversations. Lj Idol. Fanfiction​ and icon communities.

And I just learned so much about myself, because instead of writing only for myself, I had an audience for the first time. People who read what I had to say, responded, gave advice and comfort. People who became friends though we've never met face to face. People who made me think, cry, empathize.

Not happy about it but I know I'll delete my LJ eventually. For now I've locked down my previously public posts and I'll see what happens next.

I'm just glad that this place seems to have imported everything successfully. I'd stopped using LJ for much, but I like having the history. At least switching gave me a chance to depreciate the old username.

I like the new handle. Was there a reason you stopped using oldname other than it didn't seem to fit you anymore?

It's not so much that I stopped using it as that I'm working at maintaining a bit more plausible deniability between that one and RL, since it's become well-known in a specific subgroup of my online life - one you're aware of. :)

Nah, I'm not trying for the ability to deny the old LJ, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to import all the old content and comments. Not to mention putting up a note there about where I've migrated to. This is more about taking the opportunity to reduce the amount of personal stuff that comes up when googling the old handle, once that LJ has its now-inevitable demise.
