Showed up this morning for a workout with Tal (I have to link to her FB page here!) And explained what's up with my health currently: headcold/allergies, stuffy ringing partly deaf right ear, a little coughing from drainage.

She said since I had some goings on with the lungs, she didn't think we should work out.

Her rule of thumb is, neck-and-up, OK to work out, neck-and-down, no.

Huh. She said I should rest. I said since I'm here I'll just do enough gentle elliptical work to warm up my hands and get blood flowing a bit.

And I did, 20 minutes on the elliptical, maintaining heart rate right around 115 the whole time.

Feel a bit warmer/looser, she lent me the massage cane to help me work out a cramp in my back (I was showing off for [livejournal.com profile] delphid last night and hinked up my shoulder from stretching "cold", I DO know better...)

Now I am cut loose 30 minutes sooner than I expected, guess I'll return library books, then go home and start a to do list.

Slightly discombobulated.
Will call the advice nurse too since it's been a full week that the ear has been painful, stuffy, bothering me.

OK, off I go.

The thing about ear infections is that they usually go away on their own. But I had one that continued to get worse until I actually thought the words, "If I don't get help, this will kill me." It wasn't paranoia, but an absolute certainty that my body was losing the fight. It took some absurdly strong antibiotics to fix it. So trust your instincts. You can usually ignore them, but if you ever feel like you're being overwhelmed, get to the doctor immediately.

This has been your public service announcement for the day. Thank you, and good night.
