Great spending time with little month old Sam & Max today. Downside: left my wallet at their mom's house! D'oh! so had to skip the Five rhythms dance class for want of cash.

Upside: leisurely meal of bread & hummus before getting myself to the gym for 9 after an hour's leisurely reading of an interesting book [livejournal.com profile] aneska_ lent me, now am nearly done.

After a week of not making it to the gym, I was so stiff that all it took to hurt myself was taking the stairs two at a time... before I even got INTO the gym! Tweaked my tender plantar fasciitis, which then determined my game plan.

So I was gentle warming my body up, gentle with the weights, gentle with the stretching, and ice and ibuprofen for the heel, after. *nodding*

one discovery, no, two discoveries:
one, if I go late, there's fewer folk to be weirded out by my freeform movement and stretching, and I thus feel less weird about doing it. (while on stationary bike, was moving my arms in circles, ellipses, lemniscates, to loosen up my shoulders which were painful.)

two, working the outer thigh muscles THEN the inner thigh muscles is more productive than vice versa, and I'm shifting my routine to do that from now on.

Glad I've committed to Tuesday yoga, so will work this out again tomorrow and hopefully make some progress this week instead of trying to play catch up.

going to the gym and working out in other ways? is nothing about vanity and everything about being tired of my muscles and joints hurting. Failing to make it in for a week (which was Last Week) has real consequences.

(ow.)

but I feel better now, physically, than I did earlier today. Much less crunchy.  so I just need to get this-all into the habit-body. if I can have this so regular I don't have to think about it, I will win SO HARD. and hurt a lot a lot a lot less.

I really need to get back to a gym. I love going and reading this makes me want a gym membership :)

I've got some crossfit classes from Amazon Local to start attending, but I can't afford the monthly cost of those (or I shouldn't), so I may go for a cheaper regular old gym membership :)
