My home's overall score is 48, and it's called "car dependent" - but, it's not that far of a walk to a bus, and only about a mile (a little more) to BART. How close to such things must a place be to not be "car dependent"?

My commute to my job, which is three streets over and a few blocks down, scored an 82. I love it.

Upon closer examination, the Google map lists a place which isn't there any more (welcome to the economic lag), but doesn't list the best book store, called The Book Shop! *disappointed*
I did not see a place to make suggestions on adding listings, either. Plus, there is a farmers market in walking distance once a week.

I also punched in David's address in Pt Richmond, which received a score of 75 ("Very Walkable"), but is nowhere near BART whatsoever. This scoring system seems to not realize how much people might rely on the train to get them farther distances. I guess it's only a score of what's nearby, and how easy it is to walk to the nearby stuff.

My neighborhood is 11 out of 100. Very pathetic, but I knew that. It includes a number of businesses that are no longer in business, so I think that if it were updated, it'd more like an 8 or 9, sadly.

I got a rock...no wait, I mean I got 43, Car Dependent.

And to show you where my mind was, I was hoping it would list where there were parks and dedicated walking paths. Silly rabbit.

on my map it did show parks, at the least. Didn't show all the retail establishments I favor (the MILK PAIL wasn't on their map, OMG!) but *shrug*

"I got a rock" made me gigglesnort.
