yay: My shoulders are looser than they have been in YEARS. this week gone by, I did one workout Wednesday, had a deep tissue massage the next day, another workout on Friday,
delphid did more massage on my sore left shoulder, and BOOM.
Suddenly the shoulder ... released. it's the only way to put it, really. Now it hangs significantly lower and will rest further back than I can ever remember it doing. Judging from the tenderness in the ends of the muscle, its been at least YEARS since I had full access to my shoulders.
boo: this means of course, significant ongoing PT to rehabilitate the muscle. Just means a bit more work, actually, than what I'm currently doing.
also boo: so THEN the right shoulder felt ridiculous, high and tight, compared with the freedom of the left. I remembered that stiff muscles won't relax, and that I have to warm up a muscle before convincing it to stretch, and I have to work it to near exhaustion before I can get a truly frozen muscle to limber up. so I got my 5# weights and did everything I could think of to work the shoulder muscles to warm and then to tired. Don't even know how many reps I did: over my head, behind my back, out to the sides and up and down in front.
yay: BOTH shoulders feel more limber now, and look about the same height in the mirror! both are a little tender, and I find myself struggling to remember that they now CAN stay at the back and sides, instead of up and forward... but the movement is so much larger, less painful, more fluid and easy than it has been in years and years, despite all kinds of effort. And poking my finger into the muscles is NOT excruciating any more! wow.
Tomorrow, Monday, is the first Monday in perhaps two months where I don't have a workout planned for midday (change in Tal's schedule necessitated a change in mine), and I want to DANCE again.
maybe I will see cyan-blue or p3aches there. I think it is going to feel GREAT, to just freestyle after so long.
*exhale.*
Going to see someone about a job tomorrow, wish me luck!
So excited about this new range of motion!
