Hope can be horrible sometimes. Hope, for me anyway, often leads to disappointment. Much like expectation.
I resonate with some of what you've said here. My 'undeserving' doesn't center around sex or affection, but more the romantic/life partnered/happily ever after. I believe that the Universe has shown me, time and again, that this just isn't in the cards for me. Is that feeling 'undeserving' or recognizing what IS?
